Mykhailo Mudryk handed surprise transfer lifeline

  • Ukraine international confident of return to football
  • Sevilla touted as possible transfer suitors
Mykhailo Mudryk

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk is being lined up by Sevilla for a surprise summer switch to La Liga, a report has claimed.

Mudryk has not played for Chelsea since November after a failed doping test sparked an immediate provisional suspension. The investigation into the Ukraine international, who pleads his innocence, is ongoing.

Chelsea have offered their support to Mudryk and those involved with the Blues are hopeful of seeing the young winger cleared to return to football soon. But just what his future looks like at Stamford Bridge remains to be seen after two incredibly underwhelming years.

The Blues paid an initial £62m to sign Mudryk in 2023.Aagreeing to a deal worth up to £89m. But the 24-year-old’s adaptation to the Premier League has been far from convincing. He has managed just five goals and four assists in 53 outings in the competition and was not a guaranteed starter before his suspension.

Clearly needing to reinvigorate a career which has stalled horribly. Mudryk could be on the move in the summer and SPORT state Sevilla are looking at offering an escape route.

Sevilla have drawn inspiration from Real Betis’ successful loan acquisition of Antony, who struggled at Manchester United but has dazzled since his move to La Liga in January.

It is claimed Mudryk would welcome the chance to join Sevilla. But clearly the move hangs on whether he will be cleared to return to football in time. A ban of as long as four years could be issued. If Mudryk is found to have intentionally used a banned substance.
